About
Since the 1980s, Start With Heart creators Mark Beckwith and Obediah Thomas have been recording songs and performing for children. Mark Beckwith got his break as the music director for the worldwide Jumpstart Series, starting in 1990. With over 10 million units in sales worldwide, it exposed Mark to new forms of ‘“edutainment” and multimedia, that planted the seed for Shows That Teach, Razzle Bam Boom, and now our beloved Start With Heart. Mark and his Puey the Pig puppet character date back decades. While Puey’s fabric and structure have evolved, his sassy, irreverent, yet loving demeanor has been there from his creation.
Mission
n 2019, Mark and Obediah began producing short-format videos for classrooms on topics that helped teachers get their students prepared for the day. The series was suitably called Start With Heart.

With the goal to motivate and inspire, additional characters played by seasoned performers, Jason Luckett, Tuba Heatherton, and Rebecca Lynn, helped students reflect on ways they could be the best people they could be. Kids wanted more Puey, and teachers wanted more videos!
